Mark 2 NIV Jesus Forgives and Heals a Paralyzed
30 Simon’s mother-in-law was in bed with a fever, and they immediately told Jesus about her. 31 So he went to her, took her hand and helped her up.(AP) The fever left her and she began to wait on them. 53 When they had crossed over, they landed at Gennesaret and anchored there.(AX) 54 As soon as they got out of the boat, people recognized Jesus. 55 They ran throughout that whole region and carried the sick on mats to wherever they heard he was. 56 And wherever he went—into villages, towns or countryside—they placed the sick in the marketplaces. They begged him to let them touch even the edge of his cloak,(AY) and all who touched it were healed.
31 And he came and took her by the hand, and lifted her up; and immediately the fever left her, and she ministered unto them. 30 But Simon’s wife’s mother lay sick of a fever, and anon they tell him of her. 26 And when the unclean spirit had torn him, and cried with a loud voice, he came out of him. 13 And he was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted of Satan; and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered unto him. 9 And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan. 7 And preached, saying, There cometh one mightier than I after me, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and unloose.
Jesus Sends Out the Twelve(J)
He had to stay out in the secluded places, but people from everywhere kept coming to him. 27 Amazement gripped the audience, and they began to discuss what had happened. ” 28 The news about Jesus spread quickly throughout the entire region of Galilee. 32 (AQ)At evening, when the sun had set, they brought to Him all who were sick and those who were demon-possessed. 33 And the whole city was gathered together at the door. 34 Then He healed many who were sick with various diseases, and (AR)cast out many demons; and He (AS)did not allow the demons to speak, because they knew Him.
12 The Spirit then compelled Jesus to go into the wilderness, 13 where he was tempted by Satan for forty days. He was out among the wild animals, and angels took care of him. A large crowd came to him,(J) and he began to teach them. 14 As he walked along, he saw Levi son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax collector’s booth. “Follow me,”(K) Jesus told him, and Levi got up and followed him. 45 And straightway he constrained his disciples to get into the ship, and to go to the other side before unto Bethsaida, while he sent away the people.
32 And at even, when the sun did set, they brought unto him all that were diseased, and them that were possessed with devils. 19 And when he had gone a little farther thence, he saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the ship mending their nets. 12 And immediately the spirit driveth him into the wilderness. 11 And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. 5 And there went out unto him all the land of Judaea, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins.
- 27 And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this?
- 20 But the time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them,(Q) and on that day they will fast.
- 38 But Jesus replied, “We must go on to other towns as well, and I will preach to them, too.
Four Fishermen Called as Disciples(Y)
16 One day as Jesus was walking along the shore of the Sea of mark down meaning Galilee, he saw Simong and his brother Andrew throwing a net into the water, for they fished for a living. 17 Jesus called out to them, “Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people! 29 As soon as they left the synagogue,(AO) they went with James and John to the home of Simon and Andrew.
3 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? 12 (R)Immediately the Spirit edrove Him into the wilderness. 13 And He was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted by Satan, and was with the wild beasts; (S)and the angels ministered to Him. 39 And he preached in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and cast out devils.
- 4 But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away.
- A large crowd came to him,(J) and he began to teach them.
- 17 Then Jesus said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you become (AA)fishers of men.” 18 (AB)They immediately left their nets and followed Him.
- 11 And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
27 The people were all so amazed(AK) that they asked each other, “What is this? He even gives orders to impure spirits and they obey him.” 28 News about him spread quickly over the whole region(AL) of Galilee. 26 The king was greatly distressed, but because of his oaths and his dinner guests, he did not want to refuse her.
21 (AD)Then they went into Capernaum, and immediately on the Sabbath He entered the (AE)synagogue and taught. 22 (AF)And they were astonished at His teaching, for He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes. 19 When He had gone a little farther from there, He saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the boat mending their nets. 20 And immediately He called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired servants, and went after Him.
Jesus Heals a Man With Leprosy(AY)
4 John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. 40 A man with leprosy came and knelt in front of Jesus, begging to be healed. “If you are willing, you can heal me and make me clean,” he said. 4 But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away. 5 As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe(D) sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed. 19 Jesus answered, “How can the guests of the bridegroom fast while he is with them?
Jesus Has Risen(A)
27 So he immediately sent an executioner with orders to bring John’s head. The man went, beheaded John in the prison, 28 and brought back his head on a platter. He presented it to the girl, and she gave it to her mother. 29 On hearing of this, John’s disciples came and took his body and laid it in a tomb. 32 That evening after sunset, many sick and demon-possessed people were brought to Jesus. 34 So Jesus healed many people who were sick with various diseases, and he cast out many demons.
Jesus Calls His First Disciples
20 But the time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them,(Q) and on that day they will fast. 44 And they that did eat of the loaves were about five thousand men. 29 And when his disciples heard of it, they came and took up his corpse, and laid it in a tomb. 24 And she went forth, and said unto her mother, What shall I ask? 20 For Herod feared John, knowing that he was a just man and an holy, and observed him; and when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly. 13 And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them.
John Baptizes Jesus(L)
47 Later that night, the boat was in the middle of the lake, and he was alone on land. 48 He saw the disciples straining at the oars, because the wind was against them. Shortly before dawn he went out to them, walking on the lake. He was about to pass by them, 49 but when they saw him walking on the lake, they thought he was a ghost.(AS) They cried out, 50 because they all saw him and were terrified.
Jesus Feeds the Five Thousand(AD)(AE)
But because the demons knew who he was, he did not allow them to speak. 29 After Jesus left the synagogue with James and John, they went to Simon and Andrew’s home. 30 Now Simon’s mother-in-law was sick in bed with a high fever.
29 (AO)Now as soon as they had come out of the synagogue, they entered the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John. 30 But Simon’s wife’s mother lay sick with a fever, and they told Him about her at once. 31 So He came and took her by the hand and lifted her up, and immediately the fever left her. 21 Jesus and his companions went to the town of Capernaum. When the Sabbath day came, he went into the synagogue and began to teach. 22 The people were amazed at his teaching, for he taught with real authority—quite unlike the teachers of religious law.
6 His clothes were woven from coarse camel hair, and he wore a leather belt around his waist. 25 But Jesus (AK)rebuked him, saying, h“Be quiet, and come out of him! ” 26 And when the unclean spirit (AL)had convulsed him and cried out with a loud voice, he came out of him.
27 Then they were all amazed, so that they questioned among themselves, saying, i“What is this? For with authority He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey Him.” 28 And immediately His (AM)fame spread throughout all the region around Galilee. 18 For John had been saying to Herod, “It is not lawful for you to have your brother’s wife.”(Y) 19 So Herodias nursed a grudge against John and wanted to kill him. 12 They went out and preached that people should repent.(P) 13 They drove out many demons and anointed many sick people with oil(Q) and healed them.
32 So they went away by themselves in a boat(AI) to a solitary place. 33 But many who saw them leaving recognized them and ran on foot from all the towns and got there ahead of them. 34 When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd.(AJ) So he began teaching them many things. 38 But Jesus replied, “We must go on to other towns as well, and I will preach to them, too. That is why I came.” 39 So he traveled throughout the region of Galilee, preaching in the synagogues and casting out demons. 4 (F)John came baptizing in the wilderness and preaching a baptism of repentance bfor the remission of sins.
10 And he said unto them, In what place soever ye enter into an house, there abide till ye depart from that place. 16 (Z)And as He walked by the Sea of Galilee, He saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. 17 Then Jesus said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you become (AA)fishers of men.” 18 (AB)They immediately left their nets and followed Him. 41 And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean. 35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed. 34 And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew him.
